Continuing onward from the previous blog.

How to Deploy a Package from DEV to UAT using LCS

Your customizations have been successfully deployed to a UAT (sandbox) environment. Functionals and/or users have extensively tested and verified the customization on the UAT environment. You have been given go-ahead and now you need to carry those customizations from UAT environment to production environment. All right then, let’s jump right into it!


Prerequisites:

To successfully perform the process, you will need:

  1. Admin creds or project security role of "Project owner" on LCS.
  2. A successfully completed deployment on a UAT (sandbox) environment.


Process:

Step 1: Mark an application deployable package from a sandbox environment as a release candidate for a production environment.
Step 2: Schedule the release candidate on a production environment.


Step 1: Mark an application deployable package from a sandbox environment as a release candidate for a production environment.

1. Open LCS.
2. Select your Project.

3. On your Project screen, under Environments, choose your relevant sandbox environment, and click on Full details.

4. Click on History. From the dropdown select Environment changes.

5. Select your application deployable package, which was successfully deployed on sandbox environment.

  • In the details, select Mark as release candidate.

6. A pop-up window will appear. Click on Yes.

7. You package is now marked as a release candidate for Production environment.

8. Go back to your Project screen. Click on the project.

 

Step 2: Schedule the release candidate on a production environment.

1. On the Project screen, under Environments, choose your relevant Production environment, and click on Full details.

2. On the next screen, click on Maintain. Within the drop-down, select Update environment.

3. On the next view, under AVAILABLE SANDBOXES, Select your relevent sandbox environment.

  • The box below will be populated with the release candidates from the selected sandbox environment.
  • Select your required release candidate.
  • Under Downtime start, enter the date/time for when the package is to be applied to production environment.
  • Click on Schedule button.

4. A pop-up will appear. Click on Confirm button.

5. The following Environment updates tab will appear.


Conclusion:

Congratulations, you have successfully scheduled a package to be applied/deployed on Production environment from a UAT (sandbox) environment.
